How WIll You Make Halloween Fun for the Kids?
Halloween is the most loved holiday of the year. We get to wear the most ridiculous outfits and paint on scary faces. I know there are people who don’t like getting dressed up in costume, but I don’t understand it. I love when people go all out with their outfits, and I personally love getting dressed up. One of the best parts is all the makeup you get to wear! The costumes are so magnificent. You can become almost anyone.
Most of us can remember going out to “trick or treat” and get all of that wonderful candy. I went out ‘trick or treating’ with several of my friends a few years ago, and I really loved all the candy. As a kid, candy was something that ‘wasn’t good for your teeth,' and that was that! So we had to give all the candy away. I don’t want you to think my mom was heartless; I did get some candy.
This is an opportunity to give your children a special treat. Bring them to The Costumer so they can see all the wonderful costumes and let them pick something special. You can take plenty of photos while they try on wigs and costumes. There are plenty of things for them to try on and realize their fantasies. What could be more fun? This is something they will remember forever.
Who should you take trick or treating beside your children? What about dressing up your dog and taking him along? The dog may or may not appreciate a costume, but you never know. My thought is your dog might enjoy wearing bunny ears for one night. If your dog isn’t interested in going out to “trick or treat,” how about making the dog part of the party at home? If you have a party at home, you won't have to worry about the candy that you get from strangers. There are lots of fun and spooky things you can do this Halloween other than Trick or Treating. So after you've had your fill of candy plan on spending the rest of your night getting really, really scared!
How about decorating your car like The Costumer car?
Want some scary things to do on Halloween? How about visiting a cemetery? You can have someone hiding behind a tombstone ready to jump out when you arrive. This might even be a good adult prank. You can also rent some Gothic Tomb Stones and create your own cemetery.
There are plenty of good horror movies to rent. Check with The Costumer for horror movies. The library might have someDVD’s you could check out . I’m sure the kids would love looking for horror movies. No doubt there will be a horror movie playing at one of the local theaters. The kids will probably love going to the movies.
I read somewhere about sleeping in the attic. I think this sounds like great fun. You can also decorate the attic with cobwebs if you don’t have your own. When I was a kid, my mom let my sister and I cover the living room furniture with sheets and blankets. She would play Halloween music and read scary Halloween stories. I can still remember how scary it was but it was also so much fun. My mother was a great story teller. She knew the best stories to read and other times she made them up.
Check out your town and see if there is a haunted house you can visit. If the weather wasn’t cold, my grandfather used to plan a hay ride for my all my friends. Bowman’s Orchard http://www.bowmanorchards.com/farm-orchard/kids-corner/ has a kid’s corner, with lots of fun things to do. Bauman’s Orchard is located in Rexford,New York.
If you haven’t made Halloween a special event, why not make it one? The kids will love it and you will have fun doing it. Don’t forget to get dressed up.
